A Summer of Inspiration
This summer has been one of creativity and inspiration, with new subjects taking shape in my mind—scenes I hope will evoke your own cherished memories as we move into the cooler months. I've also had the pleasure of hearing suggestions from friends and collectors, which I look forward to exploring as the year unfolds.

Capturing Scotland’s Unique Beauty
One recurring theme has been the sheer beauty of our wild Scottish landscapes. Many of you have commented on how unique these vistas are and encouraged me to continue capturing them. The soft light of dawn, the golden hues at sunset, the rugged seascapes with their rocky shorelines and distant islands—these are the scenes that draw visitors to Scotland, and I feel privileged to paint them. I will continue to explore these beloved landscapes, using colours that reflect the mood and magic of the light that defines them.

Reflections on NEOS 2023
Some of you may have attended this year’s North East Open Studios (NEOS) exhibitions, where artists of all disciplines showcased their incredible talents. Although I wasn’t exhibiting at NEOS this year, I noted the variety of mediums on display, from acrylics and pastels to oils and mixed media. Watercolour, it seems, was in short supply, which only deepened my appreciation for this wonderfully challenging medium.

For me, watercolour is a lifelong pursuit—each painting presents new technical challenges, and every piece I complete builds on the lessons of the one before. It’s a process that requires patience, practice, and a willingness to constantly learn and grow.
